Tokyo is very hot and humid in the Summer so everyone looks forward to the Fukugawa Hachiman Matsuri.
The reason is the liberal use of water. There are several stations on the route where people fill buckets and prepare to throw them on the mikoshi carriers. Even the fire department comes out with their hoses and spray not only the mikoshi, but anyone that may be in the vicinity. As long as you don’t mind getting wet, this is a really fun matsuri to attend.
